The Canadian Mixed Championship, November 13-20, 2010, will bring together the Mixed champion teams of all ten provinces, Yukon/Territories, and Northern Ontario. Manitoba will be represented by four-time champion Terry McNamee and his Hamiota team of Lana Hunter, Allan Lawn, and Tanya Enns.
Co-chairs of the event organizing committee are Resby Coutts and Brenda Recksiedler. The Executive Committee includes Del Stevenson, Penny Roney, Barb Stevenson, Curt Recksiedler, Keith Rempel, and Brian Recksiedler.

“Come home to the Canadian Mixed in 2010”

September 23, 2009

Curl Manitoba has designated the Morris Curling Club’s Canadian Mixed Curling Championship as its’ official 2010 Manitoba Homecoming event.

Curl Manitoba was pleased to support the bid by the Morris Curling Club to host the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, November 13-20, 2010 and will be working with the Morris host committee through the coming season as they prepare for the next Canadian championship to be played in this province.

The Canadian Mixed in Morris will be co-chaired by Resby Coutts and Brenda Recksiedler.

“The Morris Curling Club is excited by the opportunity to add a Canadian Championship to the growing list of successful events it has hosted,” says Coutts. “We are especially excited to have our event recognized as Curl Manitoba's Manitoba Homecoming 2010 event.”

“We are very excited to be hosting the Mixed Championships in 2010 and are confident that Morris will put on another great curling event that is synonymous with Manitoba and curling.” stated Shane Ray Executive Director of Curl Manitoba.  “ We believe that kicking off the 2010-2011 curling season with a National Championship will be a prelude to great things for Manitoba and curling and what a better way to top it than to designate it as our Homecoming event.”

An integral part of the marketing of the championship will be an invitation to Manitoba-born curlers to compete for their new territory/provincial entry in Morris and for Manitoba-born fans to ‘come home’ to support their new territory/provincial team.

January 30, 2009

The Morris Curling Club Executive Committee has confirmed a decision to replace the club’s aging,
mismatched rocks with a new matched set of 96 rocks in time for the DEKALB SuperSpiel March 19-23, 2009.

“Following our December Manitoba Curling Tour Bonspiel, we had Hans Wuthrich inspect our rocks with the idea that he would be able to help us re-condition them for the MCT Championship,” says Morris Curling Club President Brian Recksiedler. “He advised us to make an investment in new rocks rather than try to make do with our existing rocks.”

A Morris Curling Club decision to replace the rocks was made at a recent executive meeting and a community fund-raising program was undertaken immediately....(click here to read more)
